APL Dog of the Week

Sweet, patient, couch potato … that's me! My name is Ottis, and I could be your one-of-a-kind best friend.  APL rescued me from the pound in Morgan County, and for a while I lived in a cool foster home where I went to work with Foster Dad every day. I love to meet new people!

I got adopted and life was great … but then my owner was in an accident and can no longer care for me. That’s the only reason I wound up back at APL. It’s sad … I miss my home. I'm a truly loyal companion; I like to be close to my humans and I'm hoping my humans will want to spend quality time with me. Foster Dad used to say, “Ottis the only dog I've ever known that wags his tail in his sleep, so some of his dreams must be really happy.” I’m housebroken, very affectionate, and would LOVE to meet you. Maybe you could be my Valentine!

APL Cat of the Week

I look like an angel and, during the subzero weather we had recently, I nearly became one. As I started freezing to death, my body pulled all the warm blood from my ears and sent it to the center of my body to keep my heart and lungs going. That’s how my ears got frostbitten. They’re slightly shorter now than they were before my brush with death.

Luckily, I lived and was rescued in time to celebrate Christmas this year. That’s how I got my name – Mistletoe. It’s an appropriate name for a kissable, little snuggle-angel like me. When you pick me up to hold me, I nestle in like I was born for your arms. I adore people and I’m great with other cats. If you want to know what heaven is like, come to APL and meet me.
