Join us for the 2026 Animal Protective League's Donuts and Dogs 5K & Fun Run!
Get ready for a fun-filled day of fitness, furry friends, and delicious donuts! The Animal Protective League's 5K and Fun Run will take place on Saturday, June 13th, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Southwind Park (4965 South 2nd Street, Springfield, IL). Whether you're a competitive runner or just looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll with your dog, this event is for everyone!
Event Highlights:

Vendors & Free Activities: From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, visit our local vendors and enjoy free activities like games for dogs, agility course, cooling pools, and more!

Costume Contest: Dress up your dog (and yourself!) for the costume contest at 9:30 AM!

Competitive 5K: Starts at 10:00 AM.

Awards Ceremony: Celebrate with awards for 5K First Place Male & Female, 5K First Place Male & Female under 12 years old, and 5K First Dog to cross the finish line at 10:30 AM.

Fun Run/Walk: Starts at 11:00 AM.

Donuts Provided by Mel-O-Cream: Every participant will get a free, delicious donut courtesy of Mel-O-Cream Donuts!

Bring your dog!
Feel free to bring your friendly, well-behaved dog (must be 4 months or older and up to date on vaccinations including rabies) to race or take a leisurely walk along with you.
Not interested in running?
No problem! You can still be part of the event by registering as a Cat Napper—you’ll get a commemorative race t-shirt and still support the cause!
